CHILE, June 2, 2025 (WAFA) – Chilean President Gabriel Boric said he will work to intensify pressure on Israel over its war on the Gaza Strip.
In a three-hour speech before Congress in the coastal city of Valparaiso, Boric added that he will introduce a bill to ban imports from illegally occupied territories and will support Spain's efforts to impose an arms embargo on Israel.
The Chilean president is a prominent critic of Israel and recently withdrew military personnel from his country's embassy in Israel and recalled the ambassador for consultations.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have waged a war on the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of 54,418 civilians, the majority of whom are children and women, and the injury of 124,190 others. Thousands of victims remain under the rubble, unable to be reached by ambulances and civil defense teams.
