RAMALLAH, August 6, 2011 (WAFA) –Israeli soldiers attempted to rape a Palestinian teenager from Hebron during interrogation in Etzion detention center, south of Jerusalem, Saturday said the Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC).
PPC lawyer Hussein al-Sheikh said in a statement that Israeli soldiers arrested Ammar Jaber, 26, and his brother Mahmoud, 13, from their house in Hebron on July 25. After severely beating Ammar in Kiryat Arab settlements, near Hebron, the two brothers were taken to Etzion detention center, where the soldier attempted to take Mahmoud to an isolated room to interrogate him.
Sensing that the soldiers might attempt to rape his younger brother, Ammar intervened to stop the assault and attacked the soldiers, who beat him severely then arrested him on charges of attacking Israeli soldiers.
He was severely beaten all over his body and had lost few teeth, said the PPC based on an affidavit by Ammar Jaber.
In a related story, a statement by the Ministry of Prisoners Affairs said that Palestinian prisoner Yousef Abdul Aziz, 27, from Jenin, filed a complaint against an Israeli officer working in the prisons administration and called Kobi after he took photos of the prisoner during strip search in Megiddo prison before he was transferred to another prison.
Abdul Aziz said that the nude photos policy is spreading as a deliberate way to insult and humiliate Palestinian prisoners, which reflects the level of moral degeneration among Israeli officers. He called to address the policy and prosecute Israeli officials responsible for these acts.
