RAMALLAH, July 20, 2011 (WAFA) - Presidential Spokesman Nabil Abu Rdeineh Wednesday said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statements regarding his readiness to meet with President Mahmoud Abbas is not sufficient without his acknowledgment of the two-state solution.
He said that he Palestinian side is ready to begin serious peace talks with the Israeli government to reach a bilateral agreement, if Netanyahu accepts the terms of reference of the peace process according to the two-state solution on the 1967 borders and halts settlement activities.
Netanyahu said in an interview transmitted by Al Arabiya News Channel Wednesday, that he is ready to meet Abbas in Ramallah or Jerusalem, without preconditions to discuss all the issues.
Abu Rdeineh said, “The problem is not in the venue of the negotiations,” pointing out that the Palestinian negotiator is ready to go any place if the negotiations will be serious and substantial.
He reiterated the Palestinian commitment of the peace process and the speech of US President Barack Obama regarding the the two-state solution according to the 1967 borders, holding Israel responsible for stalling the peace process due to its refusal of Obama's speech and disruption of the Quartet’s efforts.
