RAMALLAH, May 16, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli Authorities Monday extended its military curfew in the West Bank for another 24 hours following a day of confrontations marking the 63rd anniversary of the Nakba, according to Israeli military spokesman.
Israeli forces and police continued imposing strict procedures on Jerusalem which hindered the students' from arriving to their schools and colleges.
Checkpoints at Jerusalem’s entrances are witnessing a heavy military presence especially Qalandia’s checkpoint and Shu’fat refugee camp checkpoint.
Witnesses told WAFA that numbers of military vehicles are still stationed at Qalandia’s checkpoint, which witnessed yesterday heavy clashes between Palestinians and Israeli forces.
Israeli forces intensified their presence at Shu’fat checkpoint and inspected Palestinians’ vehicles and identity cards.
Towns and villages near Jerusalem witnessed violent clashes such as: Silwan, Isawyia and Mount of Olives; They have been subjected to strict military curfews since early morning.
Israeli forces closed Silwan and Isawyia’s main entrances and spread military vehicles in their streets and neighborhoods.
