GAZA, August 4, 2025 (WAFA) – Medical sources in the Gaza Strip have warned of a dangerous increase in cases of acute flaccid paralysis and Guillain-Barré syndrome among children, due to atypical infections and worsening acute malnutrition.
The same sources explained that three deaths from Guillain-Barré syndrome have been recorded.
They indicated that medical examinations revealed the presence of intestinal viruses other than polio, confirming the existence of a fertile environment for the uncontrolled spread of infectious diseases.
The sources explained that two deaths were recorded for children under the age of 15, after attempts to save them failed due to the lack of necessary treatment due to the blockade.
They noted that "these are not just deaths... but rather a warning of a real potential infectious disaster."
