Kasaba Launches Al-Manara Theater Days

RAMALLAH, April 2, 2011 (WAFA) - Al Kasaba Theatre in Ramallah announced Saturday the launch of Al-Manara International Theater days starting Sunday with 10 participating teams from different regions of Palestine.

George Ibrahim, general manager of Al-Kasaba Theatre and Cinematheque, said during a press conference that the festival will open with a debut of a play called “The Chairs,” which Al-Kasaba has produced.

He said that this play, which was written in the 1950s to mock the First World War, was very difficult, and this was the first attempt to actually perform it in Ramallah.

Ibrahim added that this festival will be unique because it will only include local participants from Ramallah, Jerusalem, Beit Jala, Sakhnin, Nazareth and from the Golan Heights.

Nisreen Faour, an actress, said “The Chairs” will be her first performance in Ramallah.

The festival will continue for 10 days.
