RAMALLAH, March 28, 2011 (WAFA)- Nabil Sha’ath, member of Fatah ‘s central committee Monday said that “President Mahmoud Abbas is committed to his initiative; which is visiting Gaza soon in order to reach reconciliation and form a national unity government”.
He added in a press release, “we hope that the aspired Government will reconstruct the Gaza Strip and prepare for new presidential, legislative and national council elections within the next six months”.
Sha’ath described the president’s meeting with Hamas leaderships yesterday, in the West bank and Hamas’s announcements following the meeting that they were positive.
He also said that Abbas is still waiting for Hamas’s official response
He pointed out that Abbas might use Rafah crossing if he wasn’t able to enter Gaza through Erez crossing, due to the American pressure and the Israeli rejection of his initiative.
