RAMALLAH, February10, 2011 (WAFA) - The Palestine Liberation Front said Thursday that obstructing local elections and preventing the Central Elections Committee from carrying out its tasks in the Gaza Strip persists in perpetuating Palestinian internal division.

This came in a press statement by the Front’s member Mohammed al-Sudi.

Al-Sudi stated that local elections are 'a legal and constitutional right of the Palestinians which cannot be bypassed, as it is the basis of the democratic process.'

He stressed 'the need to resort to the ballot boxes to determine the future,' as the current internal crisis reaches an impasse.

PLF still called for comprehensive national dialogue, involving all national factions and civil society institutions, that leads to presidential and legislative elections in a timely manner.
