RAMALLAH, February 9, 2011 (WAFA) – Palestinian factions Tuesday issued statements that favor the Palestinian government’s decision to hold local elections on July 9.
Fatah, Palestinian Peoples Party (PPP), Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) expressed in separate statements their full cooperation with and support for holding these elections.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad, however, did not approve of the cabinet’s decision to hold elections and considered it as 'a strengthening of the division.'
The Palestinian factions called on Hamas to cooperate and provide the right conditions to hold the elections in Gaza.
