Erikat Hopes Bush could Pressurize Israel Abides by Road Map Requirements
RAMALLAH, January 6, 2008, (WAFA)_ Head of Negotiations Department in the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Dr. Saeb Erikat voiced out Sunday his hope that the U.S President George Bush's visit to the region would succeed in pressurizing Israel abides by all the Road Map peace plan requirements.
Interviewed by France Press, Erikat said that he "hopes such a visit would accomplish abiding Israel by all the needed requirements of the first principle of the Road Map; freezing the settlement activities in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) and withdrawing from the lands were occupied in September 2000".
He as well expressed his wish that "the trilateral mechanism; the Israeli, Palestinian and U.S be reactivated" saying that "Bush's visit is highly significant as a great responsibility is thrown on his shoulders because he is the only who can pressurize Israel abides by international resolutions".
"The Palestinian-Israeli meetings are going on yet they need an international support mostly from the U.S as it is the negotiations sponsor number one as well as for Annapolis peace summit", he added.
