President Receives the Italian Foreign Minister
RAMALLAH, September 3, 2007 m (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas asserted Monday that all concerned parties should participate in the imminent peace conference.
Following meeting with the visiting Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D'Alema at his office in Ramallah, Abbas said, in a press conference, that the countries concerned in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the supporting countries of the peace process, especially Europe, should participate in the conference.
Abbas asserted that the peace process needs a real support from all concerned and capable parts.
President pointed out that the success of the press conference needs some conditions we discussed with Mr. D'Alema.
He affirmed that the conference should result in a real project for peace that would be a base for negotiating and reaching the final solution.
President said that he discussed with the Italian Foreign Minister several points including his meeting with the Israeli PM and the Hamas coup, as well as the critical situation the Gaza Strip lives.
Regarding the dialogue with Hamas, President said: "we do not close the doors of dialogue and we do not claim that Hamas is absent, but it should retract its coup and then we will begin dialogue."
Mr. D'Alema expressed the "unlimited" support of his government to President Abbas and his efforts for achieving peace.
Italian Foreign Minister said that Italy supports the efforts of President Abbas for moving the peace process.
