Arab Transitional Parliament Holds Meeting in Cairo
Cairo, April 21, 2007 (WAFA) - The Arab Transitional Parliament held a session at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo today, during which it discussed reports that had been prepared by the parliament's permanent committees over the past two days, on activating resolutions of the Riyadh Summit, mainly the one related to the Arab peace initiative.
The parliament also reviewed a draft resolution that entrusts Jordan and Egypt to make director contacts with the Israeli government to facilitate the process of starting director negotiations on all levels.
The draft resolution comes after a decision taken by the Arab peace initiative committee last week to entrust the two countries to contact Israel with the aim of activating the Arab peace initiative.
Other topics that have been discussed during the session included pan-Arab security, developing education in the Arab world, the establishment of an Arab customs union and the peaceful use of nuclear energy in Arab countries.
