RAMALLAH, March 25, 2007, (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas reiterated Sunday that the Palestinian leadership is committed to the choice of a comprehensive peace based on the resolutions of the international legitimacy.
"On behalf of the Leadership and Palestinian people I asserted our strategic commitment to reach a comprehensive peace based on the international resolutions, including the UNCS's 242 and 338, and other relevant resolutions," President Abbas said during a joint press conference with the US Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, in Ramallah.
He asserted that the international community should read the program of the Palestinian Government.
President added that he held important talks with the UN Secretary General, adding that they focused on the latest developments in the region after Mecca Accord.
President told media that he briefed UN Secretary General about the unendurable circumstances of the Palestinian people as a result of the siege and the practices of the Israeli occupation, including the Israeli policy of collective punishment.
Abbas said he is also committed to bringing about the Israeli soldier, arrested in Gaza, reminding that Israel detains more than 10,000 Palestinian prisoners.
