Moussa: All Arabs Awaiting Outcome of Riyadh Arab Summit
RIYADH, March 24, 2007 (WAFA) -- Arab League secretary general Amr Moussa Saturday underlined importance of the upcoming Arab summit in meeting ambitions of the Arab citizens.
Speaking to reporters upon arrival in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, Moussa said all Arabs were awaiting good outcome of the two-day summit, slated for March 28.
Moussa, who met with UN secretary general Ban Ki-Moon in Cairo earlier today, said his meeting with the world's top diplomat was irrelevant to the Arab summit.
Permanent representatives to the Arab League are still meeting in Riyadh to prepare for the Economic and Social Council and the meeting of the Foreign Ministers, which are due in the next two days respectively.
A host of political and economic issues of mutual concern including the grand free trade zone, the developments in Iraq and Lebanon, the Middle East peace process and the Iranian nuclear program are expected to loom high on the agenda.
