RAMALLAH, Saturday, July 11, 2020 (WAFA) – The rise in number of coronavirus cases in Palestine and in fatalities, as well Israeli army crackdown on Palestinian protesters in the West Bank and other measures were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.

Al-Ayyam said three Palestinians have died of coronavirus and 397 new cases were recorded in Palestine yesterday.

It quoted Minister of Health Mai Alkaila saying that the pandemic has spread across societies in all the governorates.

Al-Quds said several people were injured when the Israeli army cracked down on Palestinians following the funeral of Ibrahim Abu Yacoub in Asira al-Shamaliya in the north of the West Bank who was shot dead by Israeli soldiers in what people said was unjustified cold-blood murder.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported on Abu Yacoub’s funeral and said that President Mahmoud Abbas has called his family to express his condolences.

It reported on the Israeli annexation plan of occupied Palestinian territory and said that French President Emmanuel Macron and British Jewish leaders have strongly objected to annexation and called on Israel not to proceed with it.

Al-Quds said Jerusalem church leaders have decided to shut down the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem’s old city in light of the rise in the number of coronavirus cases in occupied Jerusalem and that 15,000 Muslims attended the Friday prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque, also following strict health measures.

Al-Ayyam quoted Saeb Erekat, secretary general of the Palestine Liberation Organization, calling on Germany to pressure Israel not to proceed with annexation.

It said dozens of people protested in Prague against the annexation plan.

It said an Israeli court cancelled a session it was supposed to issue the sentence against the Jewish terrorist who set fire to the Dawabshe house in Duma village in the north of the West Bank that led to the death of the Dawabshe parents and an infant.
