RAMALLAH, Thursday, July 09, 2020 (WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinian journalists held a protest rally today outside the office of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) in Ramallah against a campaign by Israeli media figures and outlets aimed at discrediting the head of the PJS Nasser Abu Bakr.
Speaking at the protest rally, Abu Bakr accused the Union of Journalists in Israel (UJI) of sending “racist letters full of venom” to international federations, s and bodies in an effort to discredit and smear the PJS and its head for their national position.
He said the PJS has succeeded in reaching out to dozens of international s and has developed good ties with them, which seems to have bothered Israel and prompted its vicious campaign against it.
Abu Bakr accused Israel of attempting to silence and obstruct the work of the PJS as well as incite against its head in order to get him fired from his work, describing the campaign as “a dangerous precedent and blatant incitement by the occupying Power to influence the editorial policies of international media institutions and to block the Palestinian voice.”
