RAMALLAH, Thursday, July 09, 2020 (WAFA) – A total of 262 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in Palestine in the last 24 hours, of whom 151 were in the Hebron district, the Palestinian epicenter of the disease, for an overall total of 5829, today said the Ministry of Health.
In addition to the cases in Hebron district, 71 were recorded in East Jerusalem, eight in the Ramallah district, of whom seven were in Jalazoun refugee camp, eight in Jericho and the rest in Bethlehem, Nablus and Tulkarm districts.
The number of active cases stood at 5105, of whom 15 patients remain in serious condition in intensive care, including three on respirators, said the Ministry of Health.
One corona patient was earlier reported to have died in the north of the West Bank, raising the total deaths from corona to 25, including 20 in the West Bank, four in East Jerusalem and one in the Gaza Strip.
Of the total 5829 cases recorded since March, 5148 were in the West Bank, 72 in the Gaza Strip and 609 in East Jerusalem.
The Ministry said that 31 patients have recovered in the West Bank, including 26 in Hebron and five in Nablus. Total recoveries in Palestine reached 699, including 465 in the West Bank, 60 in the Gaza Strip and 174 in East Jerusalem.
The West Bank remains under lockdown for the second week in an effort to control the upsurge in the corona cases.
