Palestinians demonstrate at village where Israeli settlers shot and injured two locals

SALFIT, Monday, July 06, 2020 (WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinians demonstrated today in the northern West Bank village of Bidya where Israeli settlers shot and injured two local residents last week, according to organizers of the protest.

Walid Assaf, head of the Settlements and Wall Resistance Committee, said the protest was called for in light of a rise in Israeli settlers‘ attacks against Palestinians in the area.

He said the settlers have escalated their attacks after residents were able to reclaim land taken over by the settlers, explaining that settlers have been forging documents in order to takeover Palestinian land for the settlement expansion.

Fatah activist Abdul Sattar Awad said the activity today came in response to settlers‘ terrorism in the area and their attacks and shooting of local farmers, which led to the injury of two people last week.

Bidya is located in the Salfit governorate, which has one of the largest concentrations of illegal Jewish settlements.
