NABLUS, Friday, July 3, 2020 (WAFA) – At least six Palestinians were injured today when Israeli occupation forces attacked them while protesting in the village of Asira ash-Shamaliya, north of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, against Israeli plans to confiscate large tracts of Palestinian-owned land in the area, medical sources said.
Dozens of protesters performed the weekly Friday prayer at a land near the village which the Israeli occupation authorities have been threatening to confiscate. Shortly following the prayer, the occupation forces attacked the non-violent protesters by rubber-coated rounds and teargas, injuring at least six.
The Palestinian Red Crescent (PRC) said its crews managed to treat four of the injured at the scene of the clash, while the other two were moved to hospital for medical treatment.
The PRC said one of its ambulances sustained minor damages after being hit with a teargas canister by the forces.
In addition, fire engulfed lands planted with crops near the said area as a result of the teargas canisters and stun grenades fired by the occupation forces.
A few days ago, illegal Israeli settlers placed two caravans in the area threatened with confiscation, prompting public fear among local Palestinians that the caravans were a prelude for the establishment of a new colonial settlement outpost in the area.
