RAMALLAH, Sunday, June 28, 2020 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Sunday issue on the new 258 cases of COVID-19 confirmed yesterday in Palestine by the Ministry of Health.
They said two deaths from COVID-19 and 258 new infections were reported in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh ordered today stricter safety restrictions as part on an ongoing national effort to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, following a sharp rise in the new cases reported during the past week.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Prime Minister also ordered a full ban on all forms of public gatherings, including weddings, mourning houses, graduation parties and others.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced that the first batch of Palestinians stranded across Europe since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic will be evacuated to their home country on the 6th of July.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said the Foreign Ministry confirmed 73 new cases of COVID-19 among Palestinian expatriates in the United States and Turkey.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said hundreds of Palestinians took part yesterday in a rally called for by ruling Fatah Movement in the village of Bardala, the Jordan Valley, to show their fury over Israel’s plan to annex portions of the occupied West Bank, including the Jordan Valley.
Al-Quds said extremist Israeli settlers took advantage of the hot weather yesterday and set fire to fields in the village of Burin, south of Nablus city in the occupied West Bank.
Al-Ayyam said Israeli soldiers at Qalandia checkpoint, north of Jerusalem, assaulted and beat up a Palestinian young man with movement disability before detaining him. The main was identified as Ahmad Wahdan, 22.
