Palestine confirms new coronavirus case, six recoveries

 

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, June 10, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestine Wednesday confirmed a new coronavirus case and six other recovery cases, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the occupied territories to 662.

Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh announced in a press conference that the latest case was that of a 54-year-old Palestinian woman from Jericho.

Al-Kaileh explained that the woman contracted the virus after coming in touch with her relative, who came from Beir al-Sabe, also known as Beer Sheva, in southern Israel, to visit her.

Meanwhile, she announced that six coronavirus patients have recovered, and identified five of them as residents of the Hebron-district town of Beit Ula and the other as a resident of the Jerusalem-district town of Kafr Aqab.

The latest recovery cases increases the total recoveries to 565, accounting for 85.3 percent recovery rate.

“Out of the total confirmed cases, 320 cases are in Jerusalem district, 272 others are in northern districts (rest of the West Bank) and 70 others are in the southern districts (Gaza Strip),” she said.

She pointed out that there were 92 active cases in total, including 23 active cases in Jerusalem, 19 others in Hebron district, four others in Jenin district, two others in Jericho, and 28 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Over the last 24 hours, she added, 270 Palestinians were admitted into home quarantine, raising the total number of suspected cases currently in quarantine to 2,782.
