JERUSALEM/TULKARM, Saturday, May 30, 2020 (WAFA) – In two separate incidents this morning, Israeli forces shot and injured a Palestinian youth in occupied East Jerusalem and a man in the north of the West Bank, according to witnesses and medical sources.

Initial reports said Israeli police opened fire at a youth, said to be of special needs, outside Lions’ Gate, one of the gates to the old city of Jerusalem that leads into Al-Aqsa Mosque, and injured him, said witnesses.

The youth was left bleeding on the ground for a while, said the witnesses, who said they believe his injury was serious.

The police closed all gates leading to the old city following the incident, the circumstances of which and the condition of the youth remain unclear.

In the north of the West Bank, Israeli soldiers shot and injured a 31-year-old Palestinian man at Jabara military checkpoint south of the northern West Bank city of Tulkarm, according to the Red Crescent.

It said its crews transferred the injured man to hospital for treatment.

The circumstances of the shooting and the condition of the injured man were not immediately known.

Soldiers yesterday shot and killed a 37-year-old Palestinian man near Ramallah alleging he attempted to run down soldiers at a checkpoint. There were no independent confirmation of the alleged attack.
