Israeli soldiers force shops to open in Anata despite strike protesting death penalty law

JERUSALEM, April 1, 2026 (WAFA) - Israeli occupation forces forced Palestinian shop owners in the town of Anata, northeast of occupied Jerusalem, to open their businesses amid a heavy military presence, despite a general strike called by the Fatah movement yesterday, Tuesday, in protest of Israel’s recently passed death penalty law targeting Palestinian prisoners.

Israeli foot soldiers also deployed around Qalandiya refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem, and raided several neighborhoods, breaking down doors during searches.

Several areas in Jerusalem Governorate continue to witness repeated raids by the occupation forces, involving detentions, searches, and property damage.
