RAMALLAH, Wednesday, May 27, 2020 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh slammed Israel’s annexation of parts of the West Bank and imposing sovereignty over illegal settlements as a sweeping of international law and a threat to regional security.

This came during a meeting in Ramallah with Arab ambassadors to Palestine, where he briefed them on the latest political developments and the leadership’s decision to absolve from all signed agreements with Israel.

The premier stressed President Mahmoud Abbas and the leadership’s seriousness in taking the decision to absolve from all agreements signed with Israel, stating that: “We have translated this decision on the ground through ending coordination at all levels with the Israeli side, and Israel has begun a number of measures in response to our decision in an attempt to undermine and incite against the Palestinian Authority’s work.”

He praised the Arab and international stance against Israel’s annexation plans, calling on the world to take a serious stand to prevent Israel from implementing its plans.

Ambassador of Morocco to Palestine, Mohammad Hamzawi, stressed on behalf of the Arab ambassadors the illegality of Israel’s plans and measures used to annex the Jordan Valley and to impose sovereignty over the settlements, and its measures in Jerusalem and Hebron.

He said that Israel’s annexation of the Jordan Valley constitutes a violation of international law and UN resolution and charter and if implemented it would lead to the destruction of the two-state solution as well as stability in the region.
