RAMALLAH, Sunday, February 9, 2020 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused today on the final communique of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting in Amman, which stressed its absolute rejection of any peace settlement that does not fulfill the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to an independent state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Union also decided to send a tripartite committee to occupied Palestine, with a view of reinforcing the resilience of the Palestinian people and following up implementation of its resolutions on Palestine.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he began drawing a map for the "implementation of Israeli sovereignty" over parts of the West Bank.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said President Mahmoud Abbas received yesterday the Foreign Minister of Morocco and praised the support offered by the former to the Palestinian people.
The three dailies quoted Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, as saying in response to Netanyahu’s statement that the only recognized map of the State of Palestine is the one based on the borders of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Al-Ayyam said it was informed by a European diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity, that the European Union is looking into options to respond to Israel in the event of annexing any parts of the occupied West Bank.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said US President Donald Trump fired key impeachment witness Gordon Sondland as EU ambassador.
