Israeli colonists perform Talmudic rituals near Old City gate in Jerusalem

JERUSLAEM, April 1, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists performed Talmudic rituals on Wednesday at the Damascus Gate, one of the gates of the Old City in occupied Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem Governorate said that dozens of colonists performed Talmudic rituals on the eve of what is called the "Jewish Passover." Extremist Temple Mount groups had called for an attempt to offer sacrifices at the closest point to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Israeli government exploits Jewish holidays to escalate tensions in Jerusalem by justifying incursions, closing the entrances to the holy city, isolating it from its surroundings, turning it into a military posts, preventing Palestinians from entering, and providing full protection for colonists to desecrate the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Israeli authorities have continued the closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque for the 33rd consecutive day, citing security pretexts.
