RAMALLAH, Sunday, February 9, 2020 (WAFA) – A noticeable drop temperature is expected for Sunday together with heavy rain, thunderstorms and hail on most areas, with a chance of snowing on mountains higher than 900 meters above sea level. Temperature reaches as low as 9 degrees Celsius below the seasonal average, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).
Frost formation is expected in the early morning and night hours, especially in mountainous districts. Winds are northwesterly and moderate to active. Sea waves are medium.
The PMD warned people against flood formation in low areas and valleys, gusty winds, slippery roads, low visibility and frost formation starting from Sunday evening through Tuesday.
Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 5°C and a low of 0°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 4°C and a low of 1°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 14°C and a low of 7°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 13°C and a low of 7°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.
The cold front is expected to continue on Monday with temperature remaining 9°C below the seasonal average. Light snow flurries are expected on mountainous areas at 800 meters above sea level. Frost formation is expected in the early morning and night hours, especially in mountainous districts.
A slight rise in temperature is expected for Tuesday, which remains very cold due to the effect of the cold front.
Temperature rises further on Wednesday as the effects of the cold front seemingly come to an end.
