RAMALLAH, Saturday, February 8, 2020 (WAFA) – A drop temperature is expected for today with heavy rain, thunderstorms and hail on most areas. Strong westerly to northwesterly wind is expected with gusts reaching 80 km/h and high sea waves, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).
Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 7°C and a low of 2°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 6°C and a low of 1°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 16°C and a low of 8°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 15°C and a low of 8°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.
A colder front is expected to affect the region on Sunday, causing temperature to plummet and reach 9°C below the seasonal average. Very cold and rainy conditions will continue to prevail. Snow flurries are expected on mountains 900 meters above sea level. Temperature is expected to drop to below 0°C on some areas in nighttime, forming frost.
The cold front is expected to continue on Monday with temperature remaining 9°C below the seasonal average. Light snow flurries are expected on mountainous areas 800 meters above sea level. Frost formation is expected in the early morning and night hours, especially in mountainous districts.
A slight rise in temperature is expected for Tuesday, which remains very cold due to the effect of the cold front.
PMD warns people against flood formation in low areas and valleys, gusty winds, slippery roads, low visibility and frost formation starting from Sunday evening through Tuesday.
