Weather: Very cold conditions, low pressure to affect the country

 

RAMALLAH, Thursday, January 23, 2020 (WAFA) – Weather today is mostly cloudy and cold to very cold with in temperature around the annual average, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Scattered light rainfall is still expected on some districts and will gradually intensify towards the evening and night as a low pressure is expected to affect the country later today.

Moderate to active, westerly to southwesterly wind will prevail. Sea waves are high.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 9°C and a low of 5°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 8°C and a low of 4°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 18°C and a low of 9°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 15°C and a low of 10°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Cloudy and very cold conditions are set to continue to prevail on Friday with a drop in temperature. Scattered rainfall, which could be torrential, is still expected along with thunderstorms and occasional hail. The rain will taper off towards the evening and night.

A rise in temperature is expected on Saturday and Sunday, with partly cloudy and very cold conditions.

PMD warns people against the risk of flash floods in low areas and valleys, gusty winds, slippery roads and low visibility.
