Weather forecast: Mostly cloudy, rainy conditions

 

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, January 22, 2020 (WAFA) – Weather today is mostly cloudy and cold to very cold with a rise in temperature which remains though unseasonably low, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Isolated rainfall is still expected on most districts, particularly the central and southern districts, with the rainfall lessening towards the night. Light to moderate northwesterly wind will prevail in daytime, and becomes southwesterly to westerly in nighttime. Sea waves are low to medium.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 9°C and a low of 3°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 8°C and a low of 2°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 18°C and a low of 8°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 15°C and a low of 8°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Thursday’s temperature is set to remain unseasonably cold with mostly cloudy and cold to very cold conditions. Scattered light rainfall is still expected on some districts, and will gradually intensify towards the evening and night.

Cloudy and very cold conditions are set to continue to prevail on Friday with a drop in temperature. Scattered rainfall, which could be torrential, is still expected along with thunderstorms and occasional hail. The rain will taper off towards the evening and night.

A rise is expected in temperature on Saturday, with partly cloudy and very cold conditions.

PMD warns people against the risk of flash floods in flood-prone areas, gusty winds, slippery roads and low visibility.
