RAMALLAH, Monday, January 20, 2020 (WAFA) – Weather today is rainy and very cold in various districts yet temperature remains steady and unseasonably low, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Rain, along with isolated thunderstorms and occasional hail, are expected to fall on most districts. Winds are westerly to northwesterly in daytime and moderate to active, and turns to southwesterly to westerly and active to gusty in nighttime. Sea waves are high.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 9°C and a low of 4°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 8°C and a low of 3°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 18°C and a low of 10°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 16°C and a low of 9°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

A cold front is expected to affect the region on Tuesday, causing temperature to significantly drop.

Rain is expected to continue to fall on all districts with thunderstorms and occasional hail. Snow is expected on mountains with an altitude of 900 meters and above, and might accumulate on mountains with an altitude of 1000 meters and above.

The cold front is expected to subside on Wednesday, paving the way to a rise in temperature which still remains unseasonably low. Mostly cloudy and cold to very cold conditions are still expected. Isolated rainfall is still expected on most districts.

Thursday’s temperature is set to remain steady with partly cloudy and cold to very cold conditions. Light rainfall is still expected to fall on some districts, and will gradually intensify towards the evening.

PMD warns people against the risk of flash floods in flood-prone areas, gusty winds, slippery roads and low visibility.
