RAMALLAH, Friday, January 17, 2020 (WAFA) – Renewed Israeli military raids and demolitions of Palestinian homes and structures across the occupied West Bank dominated the front page headlines in Friday’s issue of the three Palestinian dailies.

Al-Ayyam reported that Israeli occupation authorities demolished and leveled Palestinian structures and delivered demolition orders for other structures in the West Bank.

Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said that Israeli bulldozers demolished an inhabited house and the foundations of a school in the Hebron-district town of Yatta and to the east of the town respectively.

They added that Israeli bulldozers also tore down a tent and a mobile home in Beir Ouneh area of the Beit Jala city, located the west of Bethlehem.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida added in this regard that Israeli bulldozers razed two roads in the village of al-Walaja, located to the west of Bethlehem city.

Al-Ayyam said that a number of Palestinians were injured from Israeli military gunfire in multiple detention raids across the West Bank.

The dailies said that Israeli warplanes pounded a site in the northern besieged Gaza Strip.

According to al-Quds, Palestinians held a rally in the West Bank city of Ramallah in solidarity with the steadfastness of the Palestinian residents of the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiya in the face of daily Israeli police raids.

Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said that scores of Israeli settlers barged their way into Jerusalem’s flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and Bab al-Rahma prayer area under police protection.

Al-Quds reported the Palestinian Higher Fatwa Council stressing that Bab al-Rhma is an integral part of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said that Israeli farmers protested in front of Israeli ‘Defense’ Minister Naftali Bennett’s house against the ongoing Palestinian boycott of their products.

The Palestinian government has already decided to ban the imports of Israeli cattle and other livestock, and this decision went into force on January 1, 2020.

Al-Quds highlighted Xinhua news agency’s report Millennials nervous about future: ICRC survey.

It elaborated that the findings of the opinion poll shows that Palestinians are among the millennials who are the most pessimistic about peace.

According to al-Hayat al-Jadida, Israeli occupation authorities raised the imprisonment sentence of Ayham Sabbah, a Palestinian, from 35 years to life imprisonment.

Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh was reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida urging Norway and the international community to put pressure on Israel to allow voting in Jerusalem.

The cabinet was reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida announcing that the committee in charge of updating the payroll data of the Palestinian Authority’s servants in Gaza will resume work and submit recommendations to the cabinet soon.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said that Palestinian national factions and dignitaries affirm their rejection of Bennett-Netanyahu’s colonial-settlement construction plans in the Jordan Valley and the West Bank Area C.

Regionally, al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted the participation of a Palestinian delegation in the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum’s (EMGF) meeting in Cairo.

Al-Ayyam elaborated that EMGF support Palestine’s request to speed up the process of developing Gaza’s offshore gas field.  

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said in this regard that EMGF affirmed the Palestinian national rights to and sovereignty over Gaza’s offshore gas field.

According to al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida, the interim head of the United Nations agency that aids Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) Christian Saunders accused the US and Israel of lobbying foreign parliaments to stop donations to the organization.
