Government to pay part of its outstanding debt to providers of services

RAMALLAH, Monday, October 28, 2019 (WAFA) – The Palestinian government decided today to pay around $100 million in outstanding debt to its creditors, including hospitals, according to a statement issued at the conclusion of the weekly cabinet meeting held in Ramallah.

"In light of the government‘s consideration of priorities in the payment of dues to the private sector, the government decided to initiate disbursement of 350 million (Israeli) shekels ($100 million) to private sector suppliers and service providers, including hospitals," said the cabinet statement. "These payments will cover all service providers based on the volume of their debt."

The government‘s finances had a reprieve this month after an agreement was reached with Israel to accept the $200 million in tax revenues Israel collects every month on behalf of the Palestinian Authority after a delay since February.
