RAMALLAH, Monday, October 28, 2019 (WAFA) – The ongoing attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinian olive harvesters and demolition of structures were highlighted on the front page of today’s issue of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said in its main front page story that settlers cut off olive trees, stole the crops and attacked harvesters in the Nablus area.
Al-Ayyam said the Israeli army demolished a house and shacks in Arroub refugee camp while settlers attacked Palestinian olive harvesters.
Al-Quds also reported on the settlers’ attacks and said also that the Israeli army raided homes, detained people and demolished structures in the West Bank while closing the main entrance to Arroub camp.
The main front page story in al-Quds, which was also covered on the front page of al-Ayyam, was the killing of ISIS leader Abu Baker al-Baghdadi. Al-Ayyam reported on the reaction to this incident.
Al-Quds also said the government transferred 25 million Israeli shekels to Augusta Victoria hospital in occupied East Jerusalem in overdue payment for services provided by the hospital to patients transferred to it by the Palestinian Authority after the hospital complained of serious financial crunch.
This story was also reported on the front page of al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida.
Al-Quds said the attorney general supported taking the alleged murderers of Isra Gharib to court in Bethlehem, which was also reported on the front page of al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh saying his government is working on introducing big changes in the situation of women in Palestine.
The paper also quoted Minister of Agriculture Riyad Attari saying that Israel has agreed to allow the Palestinians to import 10700 calves until the middle of next month.
It said the Asian association of parliaments called for supporting Palestine in the United Nations, and the final statement of the Non-Aligned nations called for finding a just solution to the Palestinian cause.
It said the factions have rejected Hamas appointment of a city council for Rafah.
The papers also reported on the ongoing protests in Lebanon and on the situation on Syrian-Iraqi borders.
