Newspaper review: Israel’s demolition of Abu Hmeid family home focus of dailies

RAMALLAH, Friday, October 25, 2019 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Friday issue on the demolition by Israeli occupation authorities of the Abu Hmeid family home in Amari refugee camp in Ramallah, central West Bank, for the fifth time.

The dailies said President Mahmoud Abbas ordered reconstruction of the Abu Hmeid family home, which was punitively demolished by Israeli army in retaliation for their son’s alleged involvement in the killing of an Israeli soldier in June 2018.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said 11 Palestinians were injured in clashes with Israeli occupation forces that erupted following the demolition in Amari refugee camp.

Al-Ayyam said hunger-striking Jordanian prisoner in Israeli jails Heba al-Labadi was moved to hospital yesterday after a severe deterioration in her health.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Jordanian Foreign Ministry said it has been carefully following up the case of Heba al-Labadi, whose health has deteriorated after about one month of hunger strike.

The three dailies said the Israeli public prosecutor is likely to charge outgoing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of bribery and fraud.

Al-Quds said Israeli Prime Minister-designate Benny Gantz is expected to meet with US top presidential adviser Jared Kushner in the US embassy in Jerusalem for the first time.

Al-Ayyam said Israeli police raided a mosque in the occupied East Jerusalem neighborhood of al-Issawiya during a campaign yesterday.
