JERUSALEM, Wednesday, June 17, 2020 (WAFA) – The Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem today informed Yasin Taha Zaatra, in al-Sawahre neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem, that his house built 10 years ago and which shelters his family is going to be demolished in five days.
Younis Jafar, member of the Sawahre Land Defense Committee, told WAFA that members of the municipality handed Zaatra the demolition order under the pretext the house was built without a permit.
He expressed concern that Israel wants to empty that area of the neighborhood of people in order to expand the illegal settlements in the occupied city.
Several other structures were demolished near the same area this morning, all under the pretext of construction without a permit.
Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem say they are forced to build without a permit since getting one from the Israeli municipality is almost impossible in light of the Israeli discriminatory policy aimed at reducing the number of Palestinians in the city while multiplying the number of Jewish settlers in it.
