Pakistan condemns US move, calls it violation of Security Council‘s resolutions

ISLAMABAD, December 8, 2017 (WAFA) - Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain Friday condemned the United States‘ decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and its plans to move the embassy to Jerusalem.

He said in a press statement issued by the presidential palace in Islamabad, “This decision will have negative affects on peace and stability in the region.”

Hussain encouraged the Islamic world to deal with this dangerous development seriously, affirming it is unacceptable to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

He further welcomed calls by the Turkish President Recep Erdogan to hold an urgent meeting for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss this sensitive issue.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani Parliament considered Trump’s decision an attack against the Islamic nation, demanding the US to back down on its “ridiculous decision” immediately.
