RAMALLAH, Sunday, May 12, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained seven journalists and a human rights activist while covering the Israeli forces’ eviction of Palestinian residents from Hemsa al-Foqa village, in the northern Jordan Valley, to make way for military exercises, said witnesses.
Israeli forces detained seven journalist and a human rights defender working for al-Haq human rights organization as they were covering the eviction process of Palestinian families from their homes in Hemsa al-Foqa village to make way for Israeli military drills. They were taken to an Israeli military camp near Um-Zoqa area, northeast of Tubas.
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate condemned the Israeli detention of the journalists and the activist, calling on all UN international organizations to promptly intervene and release them.
The syndicate called on the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) to exert all possible efforts and provide ‘real protection’ to Palestinian journalists and to put a stop to the Israeli occupation’s violations against them.
Israeli forces evicted 15 Bedouin Palestinian families consisting of 98 people, including women and children, from their homes in Hamsa al-Foqa area to make way for Israeli military drills in the area.
