Israeli forces detain 13 Palestinians from West Bank

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, June 26, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained 13 Palestinians in multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

PPS said that Israeli forces nabbed six Palestinians from al-Am‘ari refugee camp near Ramallah.

Scores of Israeli soldiers raided the refugee camp and opened fire towards local youngsters who attempted to block their passage, injuring a number of protestors with rubber-coated steel bullets and causing others to suffocate from tear gas.

Local sources confirmed that a young man sustained injuries after being run over by an Israeli military vehicle in the camp.

Soldiers also ransacked a local store after detonating is doors. They also ransacked a carpentry, causing destruction to the carpentry machines.

In the northern West Bank, PPS confirmed that a Palestinian was detained from Tulkarem city and another from Zeita town, north of Tulkarem.

Two other Palestinians were detained in separate raids in Meithalun town, south of Jenin, and Qalqiliya city.

Meanwhile, PPS confirmed that three Palestinians, including a 16-year-old teen, were rounded up from the southern West Bank district of Hebron.

One of the detainees was identified as an injured former prisoner.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
