Political prisoner released from Israeli jails after 18 years of detention

 

JENIN, Thursday, June 20, 2019 (WAFA) – Palestinian ex-prisoner in Israeli jails Hani Rafiq Ghannam was released today after serving 18 years in Israeli custody as a political prisoner.

Ghannam, who comes from the town of Jaba near Jenin city in the occupied West Bank, was arrested by Israeli forces in 2001, and was sentenced to 18 years in jail for resisting the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

Israeli authorities are still incarcerating more than 6,000 Palestinian and Arab prisoners for resisting its occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem as well as the Golan Heights.
