Weather: Temperature higher than the annual average

 

RAMALLAH, Monday, May 20, 2019 (WAFA) – Weather today is relatively hot in the mountainous areas and hot in the rest of the country with a rise in temperature to become 3°C above the annual average, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Winds are northwesterly to northeasterly, light to moderate and active at times. Sea waves are low.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach today a high of 28°C and a low of 20°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 27°C and a low of 19°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 36°C and a low of 25°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 29°C and a low of 21°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

PMD also predicts a significant rise in temperature on Tuesday, becoming 7°C above the annual average as very hot weather conditions return to Palestine.

Temperature continues to rise on Wednesday approaching 9°C above seasonal average.

Very hot to dry conditions are expected for Thursday. Temperature is expected to rise, becoming 12°C above seasonal average.

People are warned against prolonged exposure to direct sunlight especially during the peak hours of the day between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, and against setting fire in areas where dry grass is grown.
