Palestinian Presidency condemns Israeli ‘genocide’ in Gaza, calls for immediate ceasefire and humanitarian access

RAMALLAH, June 5, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Presidency condemned the ongoing Israeli “war of genocide” against the Palestinian people in Gaza, which has resulted in approximately 55,000 reported fatalities  and tens of thousands of injuries.

The statement also denounced the escalating colonist violence in the West Bank, including recent arson attacks on homes and properties in Deir Dibwan, east of Ramallah, alongside continued assaults on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Palestinian Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeina emphasized that the use of the U.S. veto in the United Nations Security Council to block resolutions addressing the crisis only perpetuates instability and insecurity, benefiting no one.

He stressed that achieving lasting security and stability requires an immediate end to the daily massacres claiming the lives of innocent civilians, the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to stop the famine gripping Gaza, and the realization of the Palestinian people’s full rights to freedom and independence in accordance with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Abu Rudeina called on the international community to pressure Israeli authorities to halt their criminal war in Gaza and ongoing aggression in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and to comply with international law and UN resolutions.

He strongly denounced the continued use of veto powers, describing it as  undermining the Security Council’s authority and emboldening Israel to continue its unprecedented campaign of violence and war crimes.
