NAIROBI, Saturday, March 16, 2019 (WAFA) – Palestine’s environment is being destroyed by Israel’s settlement construction, military measures and construction of the apartheid wall, said Adalah al-Atterah, head of the Palestine Environmental Quality Authority.

Atterah, who headed the Palestinian delegation to the United Nations’ Fourth Environment Assembly held in Nairobi, Kenya, between 11 and 15 March and focusing on the theme “Innovative solutions for environmental challenges and sustainable consumption and production,” briefed the conference on the challenges and obstacles facing the Palestinian environment due to acts of the Israeli occupation.

She said that Israel has damaged the Palestinian environment with its ongoing settlement activities, turning nature reserves into closed military zones, as well as the negative impact of the separation wall Israel has built in the occupied territories on the environment.

Atterah also spoke about the Palestinian role in sustainable production and consumption as well as efforts of her department in protecting the Palestinian environment.
