RAMALLAH, Thursday, January 17, 2019 (WAFA) – The Israeli court martial at the Russian Compound in occupied Jerusalem remanded on Thursday wounded Palestinian prisoner Ziad Shalaldeh, 45, and his son, Mahmoud, 21, in custody for eight days, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
PPS attorney Mahmoud Hasheim said Shalaldeh has been undergoing rigorous investigations despite his deteriorated health condition, resulting from the brutal attack by Israeli soldiers who arrested him. He is also suffering severe pain across his body as a result of the attack.
The father and the son were arrested by Israeli soldiers who raided their home in the village of Abu Shkhedem, near Ramallah city in the West Bank, in middle of the night on December 8, 2018. The two were reportedly beaten hard by the soldiers in front of their family during the arrest.
Physical violence has been used by Israeli soldiers against Palestinians at times, and only rare cases have been prosecuted by Israeli military courts.
