RAMALLAH, Wednesday, January 16, 2019 (WAFA) – A polar cold front is set to affect Palestine and the region on Wednesday with a significant drop of temperature and cloudy, very chilly and dusty conditions, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).
From the noon onwards, torrential rains are expected on most districts with occasional thunderstorms and hail. Periods of snow are expected on mountains 900 meters above sea level in the evening and night hours. Wind could occasionally gust over 90 km/h.
Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 8°C and a low of 2°C and in Ramallah, a high of 7°C and a low of 1°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 17°C and a low of 9°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 14°C and a low of 8°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.
Thursday‘s temperature is set to rise, especially at noon, with partially cloudy to clear and cold to very cold conditions. A chance of scattered rains is expected on most districts.
Friday’s temperature is set to further rise with partially cloudy to clear and relatively cold conditions in daytime and very cold conditions in nighttime.
PMD expects Saturday’s temperature to remain steady with partially cloudy and relatively cold conditions in daytime and very cold conditions in nighttime.
PMD warns people against gusty winds, floods in valleys, low visibility due to fog formation and low clouds, slippery roads and snow accumulation.
