RAMALLAH, Saturday, December 22, 2018 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Health succeeded in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the children’s fund, UNICEF, in getting the Israeli authorities to allow entry of children vaccines for next year into the Palestinian territories, undersecretary of the Health Ministry, Assad Ramlawi, said on Saturday.
The Israeli authorities had prevented the Palestinians from getting the vaccines except from 10 countries it deals with. It claimed a law passed in 1986 restricts entry of vaccines to only these 10 countries. The Palestinians have reported shortage in vaccines as a result of this new policy and warned of its impact on health of children..
Ramlawi told Voice of Palestine radio that his ministry will continue to put pressure on Israel to allow vaccines into the Palestinian territories from the same sources it has been getting them from since 1995 and through WHO and UNICEF.
