Teenager receives very stiff sentence for stabbing Israelis

RAMALLAH, Monday, December 17, 2018 (WAFA) – An Israeli military court sentenced Ayham Sabah, 17, on Monday to 35 years in prison for stabbing Israelis in 2016 and ordered him to pay over one million shekels (less than $300,000) in compensation, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Commission.

Sabah, from Qalandia refugee camp, north of Jerusalem, along with another Palestinian boy, was 14 years old when the two attacked Israelis at a supermarket in a West Bank settlement in February 2016. One Israeli later died of his wounds.

The two boys, Sabah and Omar Rimawi, also 14, were shot and seriously wounded. Rimawi later succumbed to his wounds while Sabah has survived.

The Prisoners Commission criticized the stiff sentence passed by the Israeli military court at Ofer camp, near Ramallah, against the teenager describing it as unfair.
