Sharp drop in fresh poultry prices drives consumer price index to decline during November

 

RAMALLAH, Thursday, December 13, 2018 (WAFA) - The overall Consumer Price  Index (CPI) for Palestine decreased in November by 0.36% compared with October mainly as a result of the sharp drop in fresh poultry prices, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said on Thursday.

CPI dropped by 0.43% in Gaza Strip, by 0.42% in the West Bank and by 0.06% in parts of Jerusalem district.

The CPI slightly increased in November by 0.09% compared with November 2017. It increased by 1.71% in Jerusalem and by 0.83% in the West Bank, while it decreased by 1.08% in Gaza Strip.

The CPI decreased during the first 11 months of 2018 by 0.24% compared with the same period of the previous year. It decreased by 1.38% in Gaza Strip, while it increased by 0.98% in Jerusalem and by 0.33% in the West Bank, said the PCBS.

The changes in CPI are traced back to changes in prices of the following expenditure sub groups compared with previous month:
