JERUSALEM, Monday, December 03, 2018 (WAFA) – The Israeli army left notices in Khan al-Ahmar village, east of Jerusalem, on Monday extending the closure of roads leading to the Palestinian village until the middle of next month, according to officials.

The army first attempted to hand the notice to the residents, who refused to take them, prompting the army to leave them in the village streets and near the homes.

At the same time, the orders said the army is going to take over a one-and-a-half dunums of land in the village of Anata, near Khan al-Ahmar, for security reasons.

Walid Assaf, head to Settlements and Wall Resistance Commission, told WAFA that the new orders seem to be preparation for the army raid of the village in order to demolish it.

He said the army wants to seal off the area in preparation for sending in its bulldozers to start the demolition once it gets orders to that effect from the political circles.

Palestinians have been keeping constant vigil and holding activities at Khan al-Ahmar ever since Israel has decided to demolish the village to make room for building an illegal settlement on its ruins.

Assaf said the Palestinians are ready to ward off any Israeli attempt to demolish the village.

The international community and the International Criminal Court have come out strong against Israeli demolition of the Palestinian village, which they said is tantamount to a war crime.
