Israel releases youngest prisoners from Jerusalem after serving 3-year sentence

JERUSALEM, Thursday, November 29, 2018 (WAFA) – Two Palestinian minors from occupied East Jerusalem were released from Israeli prison on Thursday after serving three years in detention, said the Committee of Families of Jerusalem Detainees.

Israel released Ahmad Raed “Muhammad-Zaki” al-Zatari and Shadi Anwar Omran Farrah, both 15, after serving three year prison sentence.

Born on April 8 and November 11, 2003 respectively, Zatari and Farrah were detained in the vicinity of Jerusalem’s Old City on December 30, 2015 and later convicted of possessing sharp tools and endangering public security. They were sentenced to three years in juvenile detention centers in the northern Arab Israeli towns of Tamra and Yarka.

While both are considered the youngest Palestinian prisoners to be freed, Israel is still holding the youngest Palestinian prisoner, Muhammad Ismail Ahmad Hoshiya, born on April 4, 2004. He has been in prison for over two years.
